About Dan Moren
A former senior editor at Macworld, Dan’s writing has also appeared in the Boston Globe, Fast Company, Popular Science, Yahoo Tech, Tom’s Guide, Six Colors, The Magazine, and TidBITS, among other places.
Additionally, Dan is a prolific podcaster: he serves as the co-host of tech shows Clockwise and The Rebound, writes and hosts nerdy quiz show Inconceivable!, and is a frequent panelist on the Parsec-award-winning podcast The Incomparable.
Dan lives with his family in Somerville, Massachusetts, where he’s never far from a twenty-sided die.

- All Souls Lost was named as one of The Verge’s favorite books of 2023.
- The Nova Incident received a starred review from Publishers Weekly in 2022, was dubbed one of the Top 50 SFF Books of 2022 by Fantasy Faction, and named a book of the year by A Writer’s Life.
- The Aleph Extraction also garnered a starred review from Publishers Weekly in 2020.
- The Bayern Agenda debuted at #7 on Apple Books SF/F Bestseller list. (2019)
- Dan was honored with an entry in the SFF Encyclopedia as a notable author of science-fiction; he’s also a member in good standing of the Science Fiction & Fantasy Writers Association.
- Dan was named one of ten authors “shaking up science fiction” by Publishers Weekly. (2019)
- In 2021, Dan was invited to be a Guest of Honor at Picocon 38, where he spoke about automata in sci-fi.
- Dan’s debut novel, The Caledonian Gambit, is an Editor’s Pick for Best Science Fiction and Fantasy on Amazon. It also won Debut Author Challenge – Cover of the Year at The Qwillery in 2017, was a nominee for the Goodreads Choice Awards in the Best Debut Author category, and has been translated into Czech.
